This project holds a unique place in my heart. While documenting the critically endangered vaquita marina - the world's smallest cetacean, often called the 'panda of the sea' - in the Gulf of California, our journey took us to the pristine waters of La Ventana. The vaquita, with fewer than 20 individuals remaining in the wild, represents one of the most urgent conservation challenges of our time. Their story intertwines with the local fishing communities and the complex dynamics of marine conservation. In capturing this narrative, we dove deep - both metaphorically and literally. The landscapes of Baja California offered a stunning backdrop, from the desert meeting the sea above water to the rich marine ecosystems below. These images serve as both documentary evidence and an artistic tribute to one of Earth's most endangered seascapes, where the fate of a species hangs in the balance. Documentary project coming soon."
