Boruca, an Indigenous people of southern Costa Rica known for their deep-rooted traditions, and spiritual connection to the land.
Guardians of one of the few remaining pre-Columbian cultures in the region, the Boruca have long resisted cultural erasure through storytelling, ritual, and craft, especially through their iconic hand-carved masks.
I was lucky to photograph a theatre performance during "El dia del Oceano", in Costa Rica, June 2024.
